East Renfrewshire Licensing Board – consultation on Statement of Licensing Policy

Closed 10 May 2018

Opened 15 Mar 2018

East Renfrewshire Licensing Board requires to consult on the terms of its statement of Licensing Policy.  The Board has agreed to begin with an informal consultation on the current policy and encourages responses on all parts of the policy.

Why We Are Consulting

The East Renfrewshire Licensing Board sits separately from the Council, and is the licensing authority for premises selling alcohol in East Renfrewshire.

The Board must agree a Statement of Licensing Policy which sets out how it will consider applications for licensed premises in its area.

A new policy must be agreed and published in late 2018, and the Board must consult before agreeing its terms. This is your opportunity to contribute to the new policy, and the Board is keen to receive a wide range of responses.

The Board also has a duty to assess overprovision in localities within East Renfrewshire and as a first step in this process would like to invite opinions on how localities should be determined. A locality can be a street or number of streets, a council ward area ( this is the present locality used ), some other area  or it can be the whole area of East Renfrewshire.

The current policy (attached below) sets out in detail what the Board must consider when allocating a liquor licence in East Renfrewshire. We are asking for you to give us views on our current policy and what changes you would like to see us make for our new policy.

Please email your response to CELicensing@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk

What Happens Next

The Board will consider all of the responses provided as part of the consultation.  Depending on responses received, the Board will consider holding evidence sessions on specific policy topics in 2018, before consulting on the terms of a new draft policy in mid-2018.
