Overview

What is CLD?

Community learning and development (CLD) supports people, individually and in groups, to make changes in their own lives and communities, through learning.” It aims to support:

  1. Improved life chances for people of all ages, through learning, personal development and active citizenship;
  2. Stronger, more resilient, supportive, influential and inclusive communities.

The main aim of CLD is to help individuals and communities tackle real issues in their lives through being actively involved in their local communities and engaging in learning opportunities to develop their own skills and knowledge.

Some examples include; working with young people to help them build their confidence and give them opportunities to gain skills and accreditation, working with adults to build employability skills and working with community groups to build their skills to become effective committees.

 More information can be found on the CLD page of East Renfrewshire Council's website.
