Closes 6 Jan 2019

Introduction

1. Introduction

We have a statutory obligation to produce Equality Impact Assessments of policies and practices. An Equality Impact Assessment is a process which is designed to ensure that organisations consider the needs of all members of the community with reference to their protected characteristics, namely:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender Reassignment
  • Pregnancy or Maternity
  • Race
  • Religion or Belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual Orientation

We are also subject to the Fairer Scotland Duty, and must actively consider how we can reduce inequalities of outcome caused by socio economic disadvantage.

We have produced a draft Equality Impact Assessment which sets out the improvements we are planning and how we hope they will benefit residents who share protected characteristics. We would now like to consult with stakeholders about our initial findings regarding equality impact, and would like to consider what else could be planned to ensure that the improvements meet the needs of the diverse community of East Renfrewshire.

This consultation focuses on three highly relevant parts of the Glasgow City Region City Deal Programme, namely Transport, Business Boost and Tourism.
