To deliver the Spatial Strategy, most new development will be focused in specific strategic locations across East Renfrewshire.
Proposed Development Frameworks have been prepared for all strategic allocations identified in Schedule 1 across the settlement network. While the majority of these allocations are located within the Growth Areas, Proposed Development Frameworks have also been prepared for selected strategic sites elsewhere in East Renfrewshire. They have been identified because they offer the best opportunity to provide the infrastructure, services and green space needed to support growing communities.
Proposals in these areas will be planned in a coordinated way through Development Frameworks. This means that new development will be delivered alongside essential infrastructure.
The key infrastructure priorities are:
schools and healthcare facilities;
community spaces and local services;
parks, green spaces and nature networks; and
walking, cycling and public transport enhancements.
This approach ensures that places are well-connected and sustainable. While improvements to bus services remain an aspiration of the Plan, delivery is dependent on investment by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) and public transport operators and must be supported by sufficient patronage to ensure long-term viability.
Progress of all sites will be regularly tracked through the Delivery Programme, so communities and other stakeholders can see how development and infrastructure are being delivered over time.
