This is a survey designed to consult and obtain views on the Council's policy over Short Term Let (STL) - Temporary Exemption Licences.

  Our current policy states....

6.4.  Temporary Exemption Licence Under the 2022 and 2024 Orders and related Guidance, Councils may grant temporary exemptions to the requirement to have a short-term let licence. East Renfrewshire Council does not intend to have a policy on temporary exemptions (subject to Scottish Minister orders), whilst we seek and obtain feedback from the Scottish Government on both commercial considerations and consequential considerations contained within the Amendment Order 2024. This would mean that where a person is using their premises as a STL, at any time throughout the year, a STL licence would be required. This position will be reviewed following the Scottish Government’s Spring 2025 Implementation Update and revised guidance.

6.5. Temporary Licence Under the 2022 and 2024 Orders and related Guidance, Councils may decide to grant temporary licences. It is not East Renfrewshire Council’s intention to consider any applications for a temporary licence. This position will be reviewed following the Scottish Government’s Spring 2025 Implementation Update and revised guidance.
