Uplawmoor
Uplawmoor is a small rural village with a distinctive countryside setting within the upper Levern Valley. Despite its size, the village benefits from a range of local facilities including a primary school, library, community hall, church, village park, hotel and restaurant, all within easy walking distance and contributing to a strong sense of local community and place.
The village has experienced population growth in recent years, supported by new housing development, while retaining its attractive rural character and predominantly owner-occupied housing stock. The surrounding environment includes important natural assets such as Uplawmoor Wood and Loch Libo, walking routes through nearby Pollick Glen, alongside heritage features including the nationally significant Caldwell House estate.
Future growth should reinforce Uplawmoor’s role as a sustainable rural village, that will accommodate proportionate growth, including a strategic allocation, to support local housing needs, maintain community facilities and services, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the village while respecting the village’s character and landscape setting. Development opportunities should provide a range of housing options, including smaller and affordable homes, and support the long-term vitality of the community. Opportunities should be taken to enhance biodiversity, green infrastructure and active travel connections.
