Investment in Craigheads

The online survey has now closed and the first phase of community engagement has been completed. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views and ideas.

We are now reviewing all of the feedback received to identify the key themes, priorities and opportunities raised by residents and landlords. A summary of the findings will be published in due course and will help inform the next stages of our work.

There will continue to be opportunities for local people to shape the future of Craigheads. As part of this, we invite residents and community members to attend our upcoming community engagement event:

Connecting Craigheads

Date: Saturday 19 September 2026

Time: 12-3pm (drop-in anytime)

Venue: St Andrew's Church, Barrhead, G78 2QQ

The event will provide an opportunity to hear about progress to date, discuss emerging priorities and help shape future plans for Craigheads. There will also be free children's activities, free refreshments, and an opportunity to speak to services about local opportunities that matter most to you!

If you are unable to attend the event, or would like to share your views at any time, please contact us at housingcustomer@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk

We're set to invest in the Craigheads area of Barrhead to help improve the wellbeing of residents through targeted improvements to properties and the surrounding area, local services and community engagement.

Craigheads is a residential estate in Barrhead comprising of social housing, private rented and owner-occupied properties. The area has experienced long-standing environmental, social and wellbeing challenges and the Council recognises this requires a coordinated, place-based response.

The regeneration of Craigheads requires a holistic approach, combining physical improvements, service redesign and community-led initiatives. This work supports the Community Planning Partnership Vision, A Place to Grow, which sets the strategic direction for the whole East Renfrewshire area to 2040.

Initial works are set to get underway in April including targeted repairs, jet washing, one-off close cleans, environmental improvements and securing communal doors. The Council is keen to involve Craigheads residents and the local community.
